Vertical Laminar Airflow
A vertical laminar airflow unit works by drawing ambient air, filtering it through a pre-filter and HEPA filter, and then supplying clean air vertically downward over the work area. This downward flow continuously pushes particles away from the product zone, maintaining an ISO Class 5 (Class 100) clean environment. The airflow is uniform, low-turbulence, and typically maintained at a velocity of about 0.3 to 0.5 m/s.
